Why you should see
Hellboy II: The Golden ArmyThe return of Indiana Jones , Batman in The Dark Knight and The Incredible Hulk have been all well and good, but this is the comeback we've been waiting for. Back when Guillermo Del Toro made the first Hellboy, the director was just a portly Mexican with a penchant for horror movies (Cronos), and the man with the sawn-off horns and the hand Howitzer was but a cult comic-book character.
Fast forward four wind-swept years, and Del Toro's an Oscar winner and Hellboy's right up there with Marvel's most marvellous and DC's most dynamic. Still, for all the great make-up and amazing special effects, it's the human being at the heart of Hellboy who makes the films so special - the loveably leonine Ron Perlman. As for his chances of overcoming insurmountable odds in this second outing, you need only remember one thing - this is a superhero that really has the devil in him.
